And finally the last session is rotatory internship of 12 months which is made compulsory as practicals in this ayurvedic course f are very important along with theory.

 

Eligibilty for BAMS Admission

• The candidates who are going to apply for bams course must have passed the high school (10+2) from any recognized education board in India with minimum percentile of 50%  in PCB Stream ( Physics/Chemistry/Biology).
• For taking admission in this course your minimum age should be 17 years below this age applications will not be accepted.

Fees Structure : The fees of this bams course totally depends on which bams college you are going to take admission . Generally total Fees ranges from 11 -12 Lakhs. Also some colleges provide some additional courses or optional services which are separately charged. B.A.M.S. or Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery is an undergraduate Ayurvedic courses which is awarded after successful completion of a five and a half years program or course that covers the study of the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional ayurveda. The full 5½ years duration of the degree includes one year of internship also. The degree course covers the study of modern anatomy, physiology, principles of medicine, social and preventive medicine, pharmacology, toxicology, forensic medicine, botany, ENT, principles of surgery, etc. along with ayurvedic topics. Ayurvedacharya recognition is given to the recipient of a Bachelor’s Degree of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (B.A.M.S) and the degree holders can use the title Vaidyar before their name (abbreviated as Vr).

B.A.M.S. ELIGIBILITY
The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing a B.A.M.S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery) degree is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and preferably Sanskrit as subjects studied, along with a reasonably high percentage of marks in the aggregate and clearing the different national and state level entrance exams such as:
All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Exam (AIPMT) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE), Delhi on a national level.
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) Entrance Exam.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Entrance Exam.
Selection to the B.A.M.S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery) degree course is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exam.

Deals with various natural and artificial toxic substances and poisons in detail along with their antedotes , the signs and symptoms and also the management of poisoning resulting from the bites of snakes, insects, spiders, rodents etc as well as from the combinations of various other poisons  &fatal doses of various poisons. Deals also with medicine in relation to the law, legal aspects of medical ethics and standards. This  discipline finds a parallel in the modern discipline of Toxicology & forensic medicine.

Agada tantra or toxicology is a branch of Ashtang Ayurveda, which includes the science of poisons. The tradition of Agada tantra practice is very ancient. It originated from the school of toxicology, which was founded and run by Kashyapa, also known as Vriddhakashyapa, the great saint and medical practioner. The students of the Kashyapa School of toxicology later became royal vaidyas (doctors) in various kingdoms and were meant to protect the members of the royal families from being poisoned. They were at times also used to administer poison to their king’s enemies. Even now the traditional practice of toxicology is done by different families of Vishavaidyas (poison doctors) who claim to be specialists in toxicology in various parts of Indian subcontinent.
